After winter vacation, the North Attleborough High School students and staff returned to a newly painted and decorated cafeteria. The food service department held a "name your cafeteria contest." The winner, Jessica Perkoski received a gift certificate to the Emerald Square Mall "Café North."
Dividing the café by Passages, Northeast Passage serves pizza, pasta and grill meals and Northwest Passage serves cold sandwiches, salads and home-style meals. Students now have over 15 choices of their favorites and new menu items with an expanded lunch menu. The change has been exciting and meal purchases have increased 15 percent.
The food service staff, managed by Carol Hichborn, was up for the challenge. "The menu changes and seeing the students eat our nutritious meals has been very rewarding for my team," said Hichborn. She added, "Let's not forget breakfast service starting at 6:30 a.m."
Mary Civetti, Director of Dining Services and Missy Hope,
Registered Dietitian said the soft colors and clean look makes Café North feel like a restaurant where students would meet their friends. Students can now make their own meal by choosing a variety of fresh fruits, salads and vegetables to accompany their meals.
School custodians painted the surrounding walls. Tacey Trebino of the Artwork Shop and her crew created the compass mural that is the focal point of the cafeteria along with station and menu signage.
